Christian Lindberg, Sophie Bright and Line Johannesen with the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra

The Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, the oldest continuously performing symphony orchestra in the Baltic States and the only professional orchestra in Latvia outside the capital of Rīga, presents an evening celebrating the expressive power and versatility of the trombone under the direction of internationally acclaimed conductor, composer, and trombonist Christian Lindberg.

The program opens with Lindberg's vibrant orchestral work “Tarantula,” followed by Jan Sandström's “Echoes of Eternity,” a concerto for two trombones featuring acclaimed soloists Line Johannesen and Sophie Rebecca Bright.

Lindberg then takes center stage as soloist in his own Concerto for Trombone and Orchestra, “El Poder de la Vida,” showcasing the instrument's extraordinary lyricism and virtuosity.

The evening concludes with Carl Nielsen's monumental Symphony No. 5, a powerful and deeply human work that stands among the masterpieces of the twentieth-century orchestral repertoire.

The International Trombone Festival, which for the first time in its history will take place not only in Latvia, but throughout Eastern Europe, is organized by International Trombone Association and Vairis Nartišs as this year's festival host.

The International Trombone Festival is an annual multi-day event dedicated to the trombone in all its aspects. It combines concerts, master classes, lectures, competitions and exhibitions. The festival is held in a different location around the world each year. It is mostly held in the United States, but is also regularly organized in other countries.
