Liepāja Symphony Orchestra is announcing an open competition for several musician positions:

SECOND CONCERTMASTER OF II VIOLIN GROUP

The competition will take place at the Liepāja concert hall “Lielais dzintars” (at Radio iela 8, Liepāja) on 14 September 2026 at 12.00.

Requirements for the Applicants:

• Professional music degree in violin performance or a music college student.
• Experience with working in an orchestra.
• Ability to work in the main job with the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra.

Major duties:

• Prepare and play the violin group II sections of the orchestra in high artistic quality.
• Comply with the work schedules and compositions, internal rules and regulations of the LSO.
• Maintain and improve individual skills throughout the contract validity period.

Monthly salary for the full-time job is EUR 1650  before taxes stipulated in the rules and regulations of the Republic of Latvia.

4. Johannes Brahms – Piano Concerto No.1, 3rd movement Rondo;
5. Pyotr Tchaikovsky – Symphony No.6, 1st movement;
6. Pyotr Tchaikovsky – Symphony No.6, 3rd movement;
7. Sergei Rachmaninoff – Excerpt from “Symphonic Dances” (op.45);
8. Gustav Mahler – Symphony No.5, 4rd movement Adagietto;
9. Richard Strauss – “Don Juan” (op.20);
10. Béla Bartók – Concerto for Orchestra, 5th movement Pesante – Presto.

BRASS INSTRUMENT PLAYER (TUBA)

The audition will be held on 16 September 2026, by 16.00 at the Liepāja concert hall “Lielais dzintars” (8 Radio Street, Liepaja).

Requirements for the Applicants:

• Professional higher music degree in the tuba specialty, or the Contestant may apply in the capacity of a student of a higher education establishment in the required specialty.
• The Contestant’s working experience in an orchestra shall be preferred.
• The Contestant’s ability to have his/her primary job at the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra.

Major duties:

• Prepare and perform tuba parts to a high artistic standard in accordance with the conductor’s instructions.
• Comply with rehearsal and performance schedules, orchestra personnel assignments, and the internal regulations of the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra.
• Maintain and continuously develop professional performance skills throughout the term of employment.

MUSICIAN OF THE FIRST (I) VIOLIN SECTION

The audition will be held on 14 September 2026, by 15.00 at the Liepāja concert hall “Lielais dzintars” (8 Radio Street, Liepaja).

Requirements for the Applicants:

• Professional higher music degree in the violin specialty, or the Contestant may apply in the capacity of a student of a higher education establishment in the required specialty.
• The Contestant’s working experience in an orchestra shall be preferred.
• The Contestant’s ability to have his/her primary job at the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra.

Major duties:

• To prepare and play the orchestral pieces of the first (I) violin section at high artistic quality;
• To adhere to the work plans and structure, as well as other internal regulations of the LSO;
• To maintain and to improve his/her individual mastery throughout duration of the contract.
