In 2025, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra concert series “Sounds of Liepāja at Rundāle Palace” will feature four events – on April 5, August 2, October 25 and December 13. The first one will delight the audience with the masterpieces of Viennese classics, such as Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.  

The Liepāja Symphony Orchestra has been regularly performing at Rundāle Palace for more than ten years now, creating a unique musical experience for music lovers in this precious gem of Baroque architecture. The majestic interior of the palace and the acoustics of the White Hall create a special atmosphere allowing the audience to enjoy the beauty of classical music to the fullest.

MOZART. HAYDN (sold out)

The outstanding Lithuanian conductor Modestas Barkauskas will lead the Orchestra through two brilliant works of the classical era: Joseph Haydn's Concerto No 2 for Cello and Orchestra and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Symphony No. 40. The concert programme will be complemented by Luigi Boccherini's Symphony in G major and Johann Stamitz's Symphony No 6.

ROMANTIC MASTERPIECES

Liepāja Symphony Orchestra invites you to a concert that will take place in the White Hall of Rundāle Palace, where, under the direction of conductor Guntis Kuzma, they will perform works by Edvard Grieg, Felix Mendelssohn and Heinrich Hübler.

FRENCH SYMPHONIC ELEGANCE

French music is like a delicate perfume – unexpected tones, nuances, and moods intertwine, captivating and never letting go. From Fauré's mysterious lyricism to Ibert's virtuosic brilliance and Bizet's youthful passion, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Guntis Kuzma, invites you to indulge in the masterpieces of these three French composers, which reflect the elegance, sophistication, and melodic poetry of symphonic music.

SONORE ANTIQUA and GUNTA GELGOTE

During the Christmas season, the Baroque architectural masterpiece will be filled with the sounds of the greatest Baroque composers. The chamber ensemble Sonore Antiqua, together with soprano Gunta Gelgote, will perform music by Bach, Handell, Vivaldi, Corelli, and Thelemann in the White Hall of Rundāle Palace.

The concerts are supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, the Zemgale Planning Region.
