With the participation of outstanding Latvian and foreign artists, the annual Jurmala Festival will take place at the Dzintari Concert Hall from July 15 to 20, which will be opened for the second year in a row by the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Guntas Kuzma, this time with Latvian pianists - Sergejs Osokins, Andrejs Osokins and Georgijs Osokins.
The three Osokins are a trademark of the art of pianism – two sons and a father. Virtuosos of outstanding versatility, piano scholars and profound artists whose concert programmes are always a feast for piano music lovers. The Osokins’ joint concerts are an event with a deeply thought-out message, in which the most beautiful golden repertoire of piano music and classical music masterpieces are always played in original arrangements for two and even three pianos.
At the festival's opening concert on 15 July at 8 p.m. will feature excerpts from the classic romantic piano concertos of Robert Schumann and Edvard Grieg, as well as the hypnotic version of Maurice Ravel's ''Bolero'' for three pianos - the dizzying dance apotheosis in this piece nostalgically looks back on a bygone era. The program will also feature Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's unique concerto for three pianos and orchestra, revealing Mozart's ingenious ability to combine captivating lyricism with filigree polyphony, and Johann Sebastian Bach's Concerto for Four Pianos in D minor, which is a reworking of Antonio Vivaldi's Concerto for Four Violins Op. 3 (L'estro armonico) 10 - this time it will be performed in the version for three pianos and orchestra by Georgijs Osokins.
The festival is organized by the Dzintari Concert Hall.
